The Irony Was Not Subtle

Days after Guyana positioned itself as a voice of authority on climate resilience — advising Caribbean neighbours to “climate-proof” their infrastructure — the country spent the weekend wading through its own floodwaters. Georgetown and its outskirts became, in the words of Kaieteur News, “a flat sea.” The Civil Defence Commission is now warning that heavy rainfall is expected to intensify through Tuesday, with flooding likely to worsen.
